Free eBook today, just for you!

Today, Dec. 8, you can download Pandora for free! It is the year 2050, and for more than 20 years, suburbanites of Arcadia have suffered tremendous grief and loss every autumn, when the annual plague descends for its three-month run. The Pandora Chronicles tell the story of Hope, an 18-year-old woman who is determined to find the cause -- and cure -- for these plagues. Her father is already dead, and she almost lost her life, too. Who will survive? Will she discover the answers she seeks? Follow the story as it unfolds in each episode. Read Story 1: Pandora (The Pandora Chronicles Short Story Series)

10 reasons to love Hope

Hope, an 18- (almost 19) year-old woman, is the main character in my short story series The Pandora Chronicles. Here are 10 reasons to love Hope:
  1. She's smart.
  2. She's driven.
  3. She cares about something bigger than herself.
  4. She puts herself at risk in order to find the truth.
  5. She's sometimes afraid and is wiling to admit it.
  6. She's strong, but she knows she can't do everything alone and asks for help.
  7. She enjoys moments in life that she can, such as the time she and Jake spend riding bikes.
  8. She feels grief very deeply.
  9. She wants to help people.
  10. She has a health problem but doesn't let it stop her from doing anything.
Get to know Hope, for free! This Friday and Saturday (Dec. 7 and 8), you can download Pandora free on Amazon Kindle. Mark your calendar, and I'll certainly remind you. Thanks, and happy reading.

"Pandora" free 12/7 &12/8: revving up!

Pandora free on Amazon Kindle 12/7 and 12/8
I've started the engines on this free promotion of Pandora, coming up Dec. 7 and 8. Who doesn't like free books, right?

I've submitted the information to about a zillion websites and will be tweeting and FB-ing both of those days, too.

Tell your friends. Mark your calendars.

What's really wonderful is seeing how many venues exist to publicize independent authors' eBooks. It tells me that a lot of people still love to read, even if it's not the "old-fashioned" way (remember paper and binding?). Plus, our ability to publish what we write without waiting for a publisher has opened up whole new worlds for all of us.

I remember a few years ago, a college literature professor told me she could never imagine reading an electronic version of a book. I've thought about contacting her and asking her if she's bought a Kindle yet. She was on the cutting edge of technology, herself -- really into website design and e-learning -- so I'd be surprised if she didn't have a cool eReader of some sort.

Anyway, I'm also revving the engines on story 5 of The Pandora Chronicles. Can't wait to finish writing that one, so I know exactly what happens, myself. :-)

Pandora free 12/7 and 12/8

Pandora, by Maggie Waters: www.amazon.com/dp/B008Y7WFB8
I decided to spend the day after Thanksgiving working on my free promotion coming up Dec. 7 and 8, when I'll be offering Pandora for free. Woo hoo! Tell your friends. :-)

So ... if you've been waffling on whether to start reading a new short story series, Dec 7 and 8 you can start with no risk whatsoever -- except that you might get hooked, and then you'll have to read them all. Ha ha.

Oh, and on that topic, writing starts in earnest tomorrow on story no. 5. I know the series will go for at least 7 episodes, total, possibly 8. It depends on how much I want to draw out the action and keep you all in suspense.

Happy Day after Thanksgiving. (Are you shopping 'til you drop?)
